Rev. Allen C. Overton, Sr. was born in Flint, Michigan. He is the third of five children born to Mother Willie Mae Overton and the late Haywood Overton. Rev. Overton is a family man, devoted husband to Melissa Overton and proud father of four children: Allen (Kirby), Marissa (Bryce), Isaiah (Autumn) and Allen II (Shay), 5 grandchildren, Allen III, Chance Allen, Allen Jr., Carter Allen and Blakely Calee.

A graduate of Northwestern High School (Flint), Rev. Overton served his country in the United States Army for 4 1/2 years, receiving many awards, including an honorable discharge at the end of his tour of duty. He attended Mott Community College and has further studied at Birmingham Bible Institute, United Theological Seminary, Ashland Theological Seminary, and Andersonville Theological Seminary.

Rev. Overton is an active member of the NAACP -Flint Branch where he is currently an Executive Committee member. He believes that if you’re going to make change in society, you must participate in the fight against injustice and social disenfranchisement of people. Given these beliefs, Pastor Overton took an active role in the Flint water crisis and led the protest against the injustices the people of Flint faced. He organized and marched in protests alongside the prominent Civil Rights leader, Rev. Jessie Jackson.

A leader of God’s people for over 17 years, Rev. Overton currently serves as Pastor of the Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. Prior to Christ Fellowship, he served at the Second Missionary Baptist Church (Monroe, MI). As a Flint native and always having a desire to return home, he is grateful that God found favor in him to return. Just like Nehemiah, he has returned to help build the city that he loves dearly.

Rev. Overton’s greatest joy was that God used him to increase the membership while watching the lives of people change and transform into having a stronger relationship with Christ. God has blessed him with a vision to create an environment of praise and worship, to give understanding to hearers of God’s word, to promote strong family virtues and provide spiritual and social support to the membership and community. He is humble in all that he does, never seeking attention. He is concerned that people are delivered from guilt, penalty, habit and dominion of sin and that they do as we have been commanded to do…...to love one another.

Since Rev. Overton became the Pastor of Christ Fellowship, he has been working tirelessly. He has built a morning and evening Bible Study which attracts not only Christ Fellowship members, but others as well. He instituted a Prayer Call which he calls a time of Motivation, Inspiration and Celebration. Under his leadership and Sister Overton’s wonderful spirit, our Worship Service has been more vigorous, more dynamic and more effective, thanks to our Praise and Worship leaders. We celebrated our First Annual Community Fun Festival. We have renovated the sanctuary, Sunday School rooms, Conference Room, Men and Women’s restrooms and added a new roof with the goal of becoming a 5-Star Church. Pastor Overton recently received the Social Justice Award presented at the Rainbow PUSH Coalition Global Automotive Summit in Detroit, Michigan.

He has given us the vision that the Lord has given him to propel Christ Fellowship into a church that “Praises the Savior, Equips the Saints and Evangelizes the Lost”
